Benefits of Lawn Mowing

Improve Your Turf

Maintaining a healthy grass height encourages grass to grow roots, resulting in new shoots of grass

Naturally Add Nutrients

The composting process of grass clippings releases nitrogen and other micronutrients into the soil that is absorbed by the grass and promotes healthy growth

Enhance Curb Appeal

Perhaps you are looking to sell or showcase your property. Having a well maintained lawn with crisp edges and clean landscaping can help add value to your property!

Keeps Pests & Weeds Under Control

Healthy and regularly maintained lawns are less vulnerable to pests, weeds, and even drought!

Weed Control

Weeds not only impact the visual appeal of your lawn, they can cause damage to the grass you’ve worked so hard to grow and maintain!

Controlling the weed population in your yard will help not only you, but your neighbours as well. The common dandelion can spread quite easily. A simple gust of wind, or blow is all it takes to send hundreds of weeds off into the surrounding area to germinate.

Sarnia YardWorks is a licensed Pesticide Operator, and we can provide you with a comprehensive plan to keep your turf looking healthy and free of weeds!

The advantage of using your regular lawn service for weed control and fertilizing is in the attention to detail and coordination of services.

The timing of your weed control treatments and when your regular mowing visits, irrigation timing, etc., all can have an impact on the success of each application.

Most commonly applied herbicides specify that your lawn is not mowed within 12 – 48 hours prior to and following an application for best results. Growing conditions must be favorable for the various types of herbicides to properly affect the weed species they target.

Have a garden that is over taken by weeds? What about cracks and gravel areas? We take care of that as well!

Iron is bad for weeds, but excellent for the photosynthesis of your grass. Grass uses iron to make chlorophyll which contributes to the pigmentation of your grass and its ability to absorb blue and red light waves resulting in better growth and lush green grass!

Maintain Healthy Turf

When your grass is growing in an optimal environment, it will be healthy and resistant to disease. Keeping weeds to a minimum will help your lawn combat disease and prevent the your lawn from having patchy spots.

Safe & Visually Appealing

An uneven pathway may not only look odd, it can create a tripping hazard right at home! Having your pathway repaired back to an even level will not only prevent friends and family from tripping, you will be happy with the appearance of your pathway once again!

Seeding & Sod Installation

Nature is a rough place! Your grass has a lot of factors working against it’s successful and healthy growth.

Mid-Summer Temperatures, Drought, and Shade are just the start when it comes to the factors that can stunt or cause your lawn to perish. This is without even considering foot & equipment traffic, diseases, pets, or even insects!

Grass, like all things in nature, finds a way! In some cases, it bounces back thriving from the harsh dry summers we have been getting. Unfortunately, like all things in nature, not every blade of grass will survive this test of endurance…

If you’re looking for overseeding services, or to have sod installed on your property, Sarnia YardWorks is here to help!

Service Includes

  • Lawn Mowing (if necessary)
  • Seed Spreading
  • Sod Installation
  • Cleanup of Litter & Debris from Mowing Area
  • Clear Lawn Clippings from Driveway, Pathways, and Walk-up
  • (Seeding) Recommended with: Aeration, Dethatching, Top Dressing

Seasons:

Spring, Summer, Fall

Benefits of Seeding & Sod

Defends Against Weeds!

Thick grass prevents sunlight from reaching the lower layers of your turf where weeds prosper!

Healthy & Thick Lawn

Seeding in the spring and fall will help your lawn grow thicker and healthier. Sod can instantly transform your lawn from dirt to grass!

Aeration

Throughout the year as you are enjoying and maintaining your lawn, the soil will compact, restricting the ability for water, oxygen, and nutrients to reach the roots of your grass.

Aeration removes core plugs from the top layers of your lawn allowing for the soil to decompress. The decompression will allow for water, oxygen, and nutrients to easily reach your roots, resulting in a healthier, thicker lawn!

Cores are generally left on top of the lawn to naturally break down and recycle the nutrients back into your lawn (Think of this as free, all natural nitrogen and other micronutrients!).

Following an Aeration Service, your mowing schedule should pause for at least 1 to 2 weeks to allow for your lawn to recover.

Dethatching & Aeration, what is the difference?

Dethatching differs from Aeration as it works on the top of the soil, and removes part of the thatch layer that blocks water, oxygen, and nutrients.

Aeration breaks through the thatch layer while removing plugs of soil. Aeration does provide some dethatching, and can be paired with a dethatching service to maximize the benefits to your lawn!

Service Includes

  • Lawn Mow (if necessary)
  • Core Aeration
  • Cleanup of Litter & Debris from Mowing / Aeration Area
  • Clear Lawn Clippings from Driveway, Pathways, and Walk-up
  • Add by Request: Dethatching
  • Add by Request: Over Seeding
  • Add by Request: Fertilizer

Seasons:

Spring, Fall

Benefits of Lawn Aeration

Promotes Root Health & Growth

By removing cores from the compacted soil layer where your grass’ root system resides, will allow for oxygen , water and nutrients to easily reach your root system!

Reduce pooling & runoff

With decreased compaction, your soil will be able to filter water more effectively from rain, which can reduce pooling and runoff.

Dethatching

Thatch is the layer of living and dead organic matter that collects between the grass stems where the stem meets the soil. If thatch gets too thick, water, oxygen, and nutrients won’t be able to reach the soil efficiently impacting the health and growth of your lawn.

Dethatching is the process of breaking up and reducing the thatch layer to allow for water, oxygen, and nutrients to reach your soil more efficiently.

  • Lawn Dethatching
  • Cleanup of Litter & Debris from Mowing / Dethatching Area
  • Clear Lawn Clippings from Driveway, Pathways, and Walk-up
  • Add by Request: Core Aeration
  • Add by Request: Over Seeding
  • Add by Request: Fertilizer

Seasons:

Spring, Fall

Benefits of Dethatching

Improve Soil Quality

Removing excessive thatch allows water, fertilizers, natural nutrients, and seed to reach your soil and root system efficiently.

Improve Lawn Health

When soil is rich with air, water, and nutrients, grass and plants will be less susceptible to disease and nutrient deficiencies that cause yellowing. Yellow patches will convert to lush green grass!

Pest & Weed Control

Removing thatch will make your lawn more resilient and weeds will not take hold so easily. Dethatching also removes layers of organic material where some pests like to call home.

Lawn Edging

Lawn Edging can take your curb appeal from shabby to showcase in just a single visit!

Cutting and removing overgrowth will not only give you back surface area of your driveway, sidewalk, walk-up, and pathways, it will make them look clean cut and defined.

Edging will also provide some decompression effect for your lawn which can help its overall health!
